Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

Is a mandatory maritime safety training course designed to provide seafarers with essential knowledge and practical skills to prevent fires on board and to respond effectively in the event of a fire emergency. The course focuses on understanding fire hazards, fire chemistry, and the causes of fires commonly encountered on ships.

Training includes fire prevention measures, use of portable and fixed fire-fighting equipment, fire detection systems, and emergency response procedures. Participants receive practical instruction in fire-fighting techniques, including the use of extinguishers, hoses, and breathing apparatus, as well as teamwork and communication during fire emergencies. Upon completion, trainees are capable of taking immediate and effective action to minimize fire risks and protect life, property, and the marine environment in accordance with international maritime safety standards.
