Course Description
Is a maritime training course that prepares seafarers to operate and maintain the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) in accordance with international regulations. The course is intended for officers responsible for radio communications on board ships.
Training covers the principles and functions of the GMDSS, including distress, urgency, and safety communications using terrestrial and satellite systems. Participants learn to operate GMDSS equipment such as VHF, MF/HF radios, Digital Selective Calling (DSC), NAVTEX, EPIRBs, SARTs, and Inmarsat systems. The course also includes procedures for emergency communications, routine traffic, radio log keeping, and equipment testing and maintenance. Upon successful completion, trainees are qualified to perform radio communication duties and respond effectively to maritime emergencies in compliance with international maritime standards.
