Medical Care

Is an advanced maritime training course intended for officers responsible for medical care on board ships. The course provides in-depth knowledge and practical skills to manage serious illnesses and injuries at sea when professional medical assistance is not immediately available.

Training covers advanced anatomy and physiology, diagnosis and treatment of medical and surgical conditions, management of trauma, infections, cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies, and care of the unconscious or critically ill patient. Participants are trained in the use of onboard medical equipment, medicines, and medical publications, as well as in maintaining medical records and coordinating with shore-based medical advisory services. Upon completion, trainees are qualified to provide comprehensive medical care on board in accordance with international maritime regulations and standards.
